Unión and Newell's draw in intense match

In an intense match held in the city of Santa Fe, Unión and Newell's drew 1 to 1 in the framework of the fourteenth round of the Liga Profesional. Lucas Gamba scored for Unión in the 11th minute of the first half, while Franco Pardo scored an own goal for Newell's in the 15th minute, equalizing the score.

Gamba's goal broke the streak of four games without conceding goals for Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas, who was a standout in this match. However, Unión's joy did not last long, as Newell's quickly managed to equalize through a shot from Carlos González deflected by Pardo.

This result complicated Newell's aspirations, which needed the victory to get closer to qualifying for the next phase of the tournament, while Unión remains at the bottom of the table, far from the top positions.

On the other hand, Vélez ended its bad streak by defeating Talleres de Córdoba 1 to 0 as a visitor at the Mario Alberto Kempes stadium. The only goal of the match was scored by Maher Carrizo in the 3rd minute of the second half, in a game played under the rain.

With this victory, Vélez was able to distance itself from the last places in the table, while Talleres missed the opportunity to get closer to qualifying for the round of 16. It was in the second half that Vélez managed to tip the scoreboard in a counterattack, with Bouzat assisting Carrizo, who finished to give his team the victory.
